Tyrannosaur and Melancholia

Reviews up at Cinetalk

I saw both Lars Von Trier’s MELANCHOLIA and Paddy Considine’s debut TYRANNOSAUR at my gorgeous Gate Picturehouse.

They are both very, well, downbeat. Tyrannosaur is bleak and flawed, but has some excellent acting and is very moving. Check out my full review here.

I found Melancholia to be a truly stunning piece of work. It really stayed with me in a way that most films don’t. The full review is here.

Having seen two very dark films, I treated myself to THE LAVENDER HILL MOB, with Alec Guinness which was playing at Greenwich Picturehouse, and then BEETLEJUICE at the Prince Charles, and then my mood was restored.

I’ll be writing for CINETALK much more often now, so do check that site as regularly as you check mine! It’s a great place for film reviews, and covers most film festivals too.
